The Saha Astitva Foundation is a registered charity creating a model year-round organic eco-farm 100km north of Mumbai (see location). We are a mix of Western and Indian staff working in line with the namesake of our trust.
The name ‘Saha Astitva’ is derived from sanskrit (the ancient language of India) and means ‘harmonious integration’.

Picture 1Trustee: Dr Krishna Kant Shukla (contact t: 0091 9452286673 /e: krishnakantshukla@yahoo.com). Classical Indian musician, philosopher and poet, with a PhD in Physics. Krishna believes the Saha Astitva Eco Farm is an essential project to safeguard communities and the natural environment, a perfect solution to the dilemma’s of modern society.
 
DSC01315The Saha Astitva Foundation Founder: Artist Daniel Hayes Uppendahl (contact: kameshvara@hotmail.com) from the US who has lived in Ganeshpuri for 9 years developed the objectives of the Trust in line with the local environment, indigenous people’s needs and requirements.

Managing Director: Karen ‘Kalyani’ Uppendahl (contact: saha.astitva@yahoo.in) from England, has been in the village for 3 years.  Prior to arriving in India she worked as a project manager in resource efficiency in a top environmental consultancy for 10 years.  She is a trained yoga teacher & yoga therapist.

Naresh Somwanshi is a working trustee with a local village background with responsibility for all community relations and local affairs.
He has 12 years experience as a social worker for tribal people (Adivasis).
